Captain's Getaway

Moved into town not long ago from and already feel like one of the locals. I haven‘t been here for summer yet, but I can‘t wait b/c the bartenders are amazing! Captain‘s is a bar with food that rivals restaurants around here! The "Forbes" filet and lobster tail are my favorite. Bring on summer and all the hot wait staff I‘ve been hearing about!

To cheap ! Come on who has a cover ? ur not in LA This is IOWA Remember people ! Who wants to pay to get into a bar so they can pay even more for high priced Lame drinks !

Awesome is all I have to say! Could be the best bar in Iowa!

How dumb are people, to pay a $40-80 cover to get in?

I moved from austin, tx.....you know where tourism happens year round.

I guess you‘ve got to make up for the down time during the winter....sad maybe they should plan better

Went to the Okoboji Winter Games for the first time! Was told Captain‘s was the place to be...it turned out to be everything I was told plus some! The Band ROCKED all night, the staff was amazing, the beer was cold! Couldn‘t have ask for more. Captain‘s Getaway far surpassed my expectations! Can‘t Wait to go back!

Captain‘s and one other bar in the area seem to run a contest at the door during the 4th. The seem to see how high they can charge someone before they walkaway. I have paid $5 to get in all and have been told at the door it is $100. It varies with the time of day to get in. As for the locals...I am one! So the prices are true. But for locals they do have a hiding advantage if you know what to ask for, early in the season.

just to let the everyone know, the cover wasn‘t $120 over the 4th. it was $40-$60 at most. i happen to love coming to this bar and i am, in fact, a local. you‘re not considered a local if you only come to okoboji one weekend every summer. and if you were local, you would know that going out on the 4th means higher covers, waiting to get served, etc. This is one of the best venues in the area. don‘t dis it just because you‘re too cheap to pay for the price of fun. CAPTAIN‘S ROCKS!!

Why would you guys say the staff is rude?! That couldn‘t be further from the truth. They‘re always friendly and as fast as they can be. I can‘t imagine what they have to put up with sometimes, especially those girls! I give Captain‘s a thumbs up!

Captain‘s is amazing!! don‘t think of door fees as covers, think of them more like a fun tax... the higher the tax, the more fun you are guaranteed to have!! had a great time and plan to return!

This is Okoboji, not Vegas. Why are the drinks so expensive and why do you charge so much to get in? Don‘t you feel any remorse in charging people so much, expecially those who frequent your bar year round?

Went to Captain‘s for the first time last weekend! Wow! That would sum up the amount of fun that they provide there! The band was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, the bartenders were cruisin, overall Fun experience. We returned the next night and had a great time then as well! Can‘t imagine what this place is like in the summertime...but i will be back to find out!

Love love love this place! it‘s a great place if you‘re looking for a good time! everyone knows everyone and the staff treats you like a long lost buddy! i consider this place the best so far...i look forward to visiting during the summer!

Captain‘s Getaway is the place to be! If you ain‘t partying at Captain‘s, you just aint partying at all. Everything there is exciting! The bartenders are the nicest, friendliest bartenders at the lakes. They sure earn there keep by keeping up with the intense crowd! ill be back for sure!

I love captains it they dont have the normal snobby stuck up bartenders that most bars have in the lakes and everytime i walk in there when the bartender see‘s me he has a beer open and ready for me. You guys kick ass at what u do keep it the same

Captains Getaway was the best bar in Okoboji hands down...The staff was great, have to say they were so busy I waited the normal wait but they did a great job considering the crowd. The bands are great and the cover charge is worth every penny. If your look for a good time...go to CAPTAINS!!

If I‘m paying $10 or more to walk in the door, I expect more than what Captain‘s Getaway has to offer. Once in a while, they have a decent band. And i agree... invest in some AIR CONDITIONING!!!! And get rid of the sit-down table and chairs, on the busy weekends.... very cluttered.

Used to be a great place, but staff could care less if you‘re there. Also, bands are iffy. The night I was there a guy named Scott Larsen was playing and it was worse than a karoke show with Roseanne Barr.

it‘s a busy bar, so a wait is to be expected. the waitstaff is friendly and energetic, Great live music and well made drinks. I felt very comfortable and enjoyed my time here!! friend or not, i‘ve gotten the best service at Captain‘s! this is the place to be! my only complaint is that it‘s so hot! get a/c!!

Love Captains! Those waitresses and bartenders work their butts off! Food is awesome too!

the bar is God awful hot in the summer. The staff think they are so much above everyone else. Almost impossible to get a drink when you‘re not a friend. Guy‘s, please respect the people that pay ridiculous prices to get into your bar and spend half a paycheck on drinks! Way overrated!!!!

The place to be in the lakes area! staff was very friendly and fast even when it was packed! Overall the best nights in the area are at Captains!

Captain‘s is alright. Staff is normally rude, and always hard to get in past nine due to lack of space. Cover charge is expensive. Great bands though.

Waitstaff often rude and like to serve their friends before you.

This bar used to be the standard in Okoboji, now it‘s a has been. The staff and mgmt believe they are "elite", when really they just work in bar that‘s only busy for 3 months. Plus, they charge ridiculous cover charges in the summer. Save your money and go somewhere better.

I felt out of place here!! The people all seem to think that they are better than everyone else...

Best Bar in town, great music, great people and a definate good time.

It‘s a great place to be. If there‘s anyone out, they‘re at Captain‘s. It does get a little warm in the bar, but who‘s to complain when you are one of 300 people dancing all over the place.

Great place!!! Awesome live music!!! Best bar in Okoboji, there‘s always people on the dance floor. Only problem: it was 100 degrees outside and felt like 120 inside, they didn‘t have any doors open or fans going.

Saw Transit Authority at Captains Getaway this past weekend and man, it was a blast ! One of the best bands playin at one of the best places in town to hang !

Just moved to the lakes about 1 month ago, had my first Captain‘s experience this weekend and it was great. Great service, beer was a little overpriced, but that is to be expected this time of year. LOTS and LOTS of people to talk to and hang out with. I would tell anybody to give them a try.

I was just at Captain‘s last weekend, and we had a great time. Out of all of the bars we went to, Captain‘s had the best atmosphere and entertainment. Service is by far the best in Okoboji.

This place has a great blend of feeling at home with the locals while still providing an exciting nightlife. Some of the best bands are playing here year round. The food, drinks, and service are some of the best in the Lakes Area!

No local treatment here. Everything is the almighty tourist $$$
